Swiss Family Robinson
I know I've read this before, but picked it up again and was totally fascinated by how much of it was explanatory. It's FULL of the fun parts of survivor stories: how did you make fire? how did you build a shelter? how did you hunt? etc etc.
Except in this case, the family recreates their entire civilization, and explains how they do it step by step. I'm really, really tempted to produce a new edition where every construction and contrivance is illustrated with how-to diagrams, or exploded views.
