The Insides
This is a fun semi-scifi (urban fantasy?) yarn: one thread has Ollie, a recovering magic addict running into an unexpectedly powerful item during her normal work as a high-end butcher. The other thread has Maja, a Finder (someone with a plot-convenient ability to track the histories and locations of ... Things) employed by some weird crypto-fascist small-town weirdos to find (you guessed it!) that same powerful item. It's a fun read, and very cleverly written.
Clever is probably both its best strength and biggest shortcoming. It feels very 2016, in a way that feels great. Line it up for your next beach read!

Seriously, take one Cayce Pollard from Pattern Recognition, one side character from The Magicians, and you've got this book. Which is not bad; it was a fun read, and I tore through it. And Bushnell is funny, too, in a very 2016 flavor.

Exactly one half William Gibson and one half Lev Grossman. And prominently blurbed on the cover by Robin Sloan; how could I pass it up?
