Fragile Things

I'm not one for short stories, and I've never quite put my finger on why. Maybe I just enjoy reading fiction so much that I just want a bigger dose? Or I like writers to stretch out and take some time? But I opened up this collection of Neil Gaiman short stories (who doesn't enjoy Gaiman?), and realized that these are pretty perfect. Something about them being more akin to ghost stories makes all the difference here: it's really just enough space for Gaiman to set a tone, flesh out the weird story idea, and twist the knife a bit. These might be the ideal length for Neil Gaiman.
