Autonomous



So yeah, Autonomous was basically this for me. More or less interesting - not nearly as much as the blurbs from heavyweights imply - but interesting. I abandoned it 2/3 of the way through, though, with absolutely no regrets. :)

I think I've finally cracked the code on scifi books: I should just quit 2/3 of the way through. I've long maintained that Scifi is interesting - and I think I read enough to judge for myself - only for its interesting ideas. It's usually weak as actual writing, and the pleasure of new worlds, new ideas, new futures starts to fizzle by page 200 - then there's just a not-great-novel to slug through.
