Artificial Condition

Super short, breezy continuation of the series. Funny, cute, disposable, feels like it's made for adaptation into some other medium. Like some other short scifi / action books I've read, it feels unserious even for its type. Pulpy, maybe? I don't know.

Something about this being SO unserious and a 'book' makes me feel weird about it. Like, if it was a fiction podcast series - which honestly would not be much shorter than these little 3-hour audiobooks - I would feel differently. Huh, Matt, meet your cultural status problems! Like, would I like this better, and think it was more successful, if it had a host-read Blue Apron ad in the middle of it?

Now that I knew something was hacking the security cameras to watch me, I could use countermeasures. I probably should have been doing that from the beginning, but as you may have noticed that for a terrifying murderbot I fuck up a lot.

I liked protecting people and things. I liked figuring out smart ways to protect people and things. I liked being right.

Humans should really do more research. There were operating manuals that would have warned her not to fuck with us.
