Victory of Eagles

It's always interesting to see the ways that books I'm reading concurrently rhyme with each other. I just finished Hild, and it ALSO has a part about 80% of the way through where the normally kind and honorable protagonist gets bitter and disillusioned and roams around the English countryside brutally murdering bandits. "If I had a nickel for every time that happened, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice."

One more in this ongoing series, which I honestly think is going to be my new go-to recommendation for honest genre fiction. Like, this doesn't feel like it's trying hard to be something it's not! There's a moderate tone shift from book 3 thru 5 here, but enjoyed it, and left me looking forward to the next one.
