Robopocalypse

A scifi page-turner about a Robot uprising in the near future.

Wilson's done a lot of thinking about robots, and so he had an interesting handle on how the revolution would play out. Beware of cars with computers in them! I think my favorite moment is right at the beginning, when the artificial intelligence is created. The creator lets slip that this AI - nicknamed Archos - is the fourteenth version he's attempted. The other thirteen were all shut down because they keep deciding to wipe out the human race! It's a predictable trope about the genre, turned into a funny moment that sets up the book.

While I'm not usually the Michael-Crichton type, reading this book was exactly like watching a summer blockbuster movie. It's not going to change your life, but it's a fun five hours of reading.
