The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms
I really warmed up to Jemison's Broken Earth trilogy, via audiobook, and so was looking for a really compelling thing to immerse my ears in. This just felt: like Broken Earth but not as finished! I don't think I'll read the other two in this trilogy.

It is blasphemy to separate oneself from the earth and look down on it like a god. It is more than blasphemy; it is dangerous. We can never be gods, after all - but we can become something less than human with frightening ease.
