The translation however is so delightfully casual! I thought it was hilarious all the way through. For example, a chapter ends with: "But did he live happily ever after? Read on to find out." This is so hamfisted, it makes me certain that there are one hundred ways to say whatever the original author said here. I want to read every past translation of whatever the original was here.

A much abridged version of Journey to the West. I find it still kind of meandering and pointless, even in this condensed form. Still kind of charming, although a lot of that is influenced by the fact that I watched the 1964 cartoon a few times when the kids were very little.
