A *New* Program for Graphic Design

I had this marked in my 'to read' pile as a bold, practiced-based approach to teaching graphic design, something that is rooted in contemporary work and NOT the academic 'here's a history of graphic design' approach that I've seen. It really... wasn't? I mean, some interesting ideas and definitely at least one 'assignment' that sparked some interest for me. But it felt very much rooted in the same basics of type, gestalt, etc, and the examples of interfaces and things are largely from before I was in college, which is QUITE a long time ago.
